PNG Media Release

Thomas Vutun and Benedict Wora have both achieved an important career milestone by becoming Certified Practising Accountants, with the support of Oil Search and the Oil Search Foundation.

Thomas who started his career with Oil Search Foundation (OSF) in 2012 as an assistant accountant described his journey with the organisation as exciting and very rewarding.

"I always wanted to work with Oil Search Limited (OSL) family. It was a dream I had since my university days. When the opportunity came to join OSF, I gladly accepted," Thomas said.

Benedict who started with OSF in 2013 said working with the organisation enabled him to develop professionally.

"The OSF and OSL environment is the best - it's welcoming, relaxing and fun. Having to work in such a positive environment has helped me develop both professionally and personally," Benedict added.

Both Thomas and Benedict agreed that becoming Certified Practising Accountants (CPAs) was always an important career goal and when OSF offered them the opportunity to achieve that goal, failure was not an option.

"Careful time management and utmost dedication along with the support of my immediate supervisors, colleagues and the understanding of my family really helped," said Thomas.

"Oil Search's focus on people development is a great investment. This will put employees in a better position to be more productive and remain competitive in these changing times so thank you Oil Search."

Benedict said it was a challenge having to balance work while doing the courses but through setting priorities and good time management, he was able to accomplish his goal.

"I would also like to sincerely thank the OSF Finance Managers for the small review sessions they organised throughout the course of study. These helped us greatly," added Benedict.

"I am more confident with the knowledge and qualification I've gained and I will add more value to the important work of OSF and the Finance team."

Thomas and Benedict both encouraged employees to take advantage of learning and development opportunities at Oil Search and said anyone can achieve their goals with the right attitude, careful time management and commitment.
