Lyon, 16 September 2016

Olympique Lyonnais has acquired 19-year old “espoir” striker Jean-Philippe Mateta from Châteauroux for €2 million plus up to €3 million in bonuses and up to 20% of the gain on any future transfer.

Jean-Philippe Mateta, who has signed a five-year contract with OL, has played for Châteauroux since 2014. He was the 8th highest “National” league scorer, having scored 11 goals in 22 matches at only 18 years of age.

His arrival strengthens the team's offense – which will unfortunately be without Alexandre Lacazette for the next few weeks – and is part of the club's strategy to continue its recruitment drive, with the arrival of young “espoir” players such as Maxwel Cornet, Olivier Kemen and Lucas Tousart in recent months.
