Olympique Lyonnais has reached an agreement with FC Barcelona on the terms of the €25 million transfer of its international defender Samuel Umtiti. This transfer is expected to be confirmed by 15 July, once the customary technical terms have been settled.

Samuel Umtiti had spoken to Chairman Jean-Michel Aulas of FC Barcelona's interest in him and his wish to take advantage of the opportunity to join that prestigious club.

Similarly to Mr Aulas' commitments in other cases, Olympique Lyonnais agreed to consider the proposal and negotiated the best possible transfer terms, both for the player and the club.

Olympique Lyonnais would like to thank Samuel Umtiti for his dedication to the club since joining in 2001 and for his investment in the professional team, in particular during last season when he played a major role in Bruno Genesio's squad.

Olympique Lyonnais wishes him every success with FC Barcelona and with France's team in the Euro 2016 competition.
