Ooredoo is ramping up efforts to raise awareness of the growing number of scam calls to mobiles and landline to trick people into sending money or giving up access to their bank accounts. The company is making efforts to educate customers and the general public to the next level, calling on everybody to be cautious of scammers trying to lure them with fake prizes or promises of financial rewards.

Advising customers to never share personal information online, visit insecure websites, or call back suspicious numbers, Raed Mohammed Dawood, Director of Government Relations and Corporate Affairs, said: 'The rule of thumb is, if something sounds too good to be true, then it's probably a scam. Ooredoo never calls to ask for, check or confirm any personal, account, password or bank details. If you have won something, we will ask you for a face-to-face meeting. For reference, any prizes offered as part of an Ooredoo promotion or competition can be confirmed by going online to check our social media or websites or by popping into any of our stores.'

Dawood explained that customers should hang up as quickly as possible without sharing any information whenever receiving a suspicious phone call. He stressed that all calls of this nature should be immediately reported to the Ooredoo Contact Centre or any of their stores, where any information received will be used to help address the issue.

Ooredoo's dedication to its customers is not only about the value-packed services, offers and promotions it provides every day, the excellence of its customer care, its Contact Centre, app, stores, and social media but also extends to its relentless work to safeguard all members of the extended Ooredoo family. Customers should note, however, that telephone scams are beyond the control of Ooredoo and it is recommended that anyone who has sadly fallen victim to one should contact the Public Prosecution to register a complaint.
