NEW YORK, March 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Global public relations leader Porter Novelli (PN) announced that Angie Schneider, partner and managing director of the agency's Seattle office, has been appointed president of the agency's Asia-Pacific (APAC) region effective January 1, 2015. Based in the agency's Singapore office, she is responsible for talent development, client service and network collaboration, as well as overall growth and profitability of Porter Novelli's presence in the region, reporting to CEO Karen van Bergen.

"Angie has been an important part of Porter Novelli's senior leadership team for some time, providing counsel and managing Porter Novelli's work for some of our largest global clients," said van Bergen. "Her outstanding talent management, new business and operational skills will be a huge asset as we look to expand our presence in this important and growing region."

Schneider replaces John Orme, senior partner, who will return to the U.K. later this year after seven years in Asia. He will continue to play a critical role as a senior counselor to top multimarket clients across the Porter Novelli network.

"John has been instrumental in moving Porter Novelli forward in the increasingly important APAC region, and we thank him deeply for his years of service there," said van Bergen. "His strategic counsel is widely respected by our clients, and he will continue to serve them in his role as senior counselor."

Prior to taking on this assignment, Schneider served as managing director of Porter Novelli's Seattle office for seven years, and global client relationship leader for several of the agency's top accounts. She has led award-winning campaigns, counseled high-profile executives and served as a crisis and strategy lead for top global brands. Schneider has a history of creating high-performing teams, fostering a workplace culture that has earned recognition as a "best place to work," and driving growth both locally and agency-wide. She joined Porter Novelli in 2000.

"Taking on this new challenge is a thrilling opportunity as the growth potential in the Asia-Pacific region continues," said Schneider. "I look forward to working with our offices and partners to provide the counsel, strategy and on-the-ground execution our clients need to achieve their business objectives."

Cory Curtis has been appointed managing director of the agency's Seattle office, replacing Schneider. Curtis is responsible for talent development, new business and operations in the Seattle office. Prior to rejoining the agency in 2013 as a senior counselor, Curtis was the communications director for former Washington State Governor Chris Gregoire. He will report to Brad MacAfee, president, North America.
