OMNIVISION'S NEW CAMERACHIP™ SENSORS ENABLE NEXT GENERATION OF HIGH-RESOLUTION SURVEILLANCE SYSTEMS OV5658 AND OV10823 BRING INDUSTRY-LEADING SENSITIVITY, HIGH DYNAMIC RANGE AND WIDE FIELD-OF-VIEW TO HIGH-END SECURITY APPLICATIONS

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - April 2, 2014 - OmniVision Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: OVTI), a leading developer of advanced digital imaging solutions, launched two new CameraChip™ sensors designed specifically for high-end security and surveillance applications. The OV5658 and OV10823 offer outstanding light sensitivity, high dynamic range (HDR) and wide field-of-view (FOV), ensuring sharp and detailed image and video capture. These higher resolution image sensors, with 5- and 10.5- megapixels respectively, bring superior image quality and digital zoom capabilities to next-generation surveillance systems.

"Driven by a transition in mid-range security and surveillance cameras to HD resolutions, high-end systems are quickly adopting even higher-resolution image sensors that can support features such as facial recognition and biometrics, on top of excellent scene reproduction," said Raymond Wu, president at OmniVision. "With this in mind, we're bringing to market two highly competitive imaging solutions, designed to deliver extremely clear high-resolution video with wide FOV. The combination of these benefits ensures detailed scene reproduction and improved video analytics processing for automated security systems."
Designed with OmniVision's 1.75-micron OmniBSI+™ pixel, the OV5658 is an industry-leading 1/3.2- inch sensor capable of capturing full-resolution 5-megapixel (2592 x 1944 pixels) video at 30 frames per second (FPS). The sensor is also capable of recording both 1080p or 720p HD video at 60 FPS, or at 30
FPS with extra pixels for electronic image stabilization (EIS). The sensor's advanced pixel technology enables high-resolution image and video capture with industry-leading sensitivity and HDR, while maintaining the standard form factor for security applications.
The 1/2.6-inch OV10823 uses 1.4-micron OmniBSI-2™ pixel architecture to capture full-resolution 10.5- megapixel (4320 x 2432 pixels) video at 30 FPS and ultra-high-resolution 4K2K video at 30 FPS. With a form factor of 7.63 x 5.98 mm in chip scale packaging (CSP), the OV10823 is the security industry's smallest image sensor capable of recording 4K2K video. In addition to capturing ultra-high definition video, the OV10823 supports 720p HD video with up to 3x zoom with no moving lenses. The sensor's high resolution and exceptional HDR functionality enable a host of features, including crowd facial recognition, video analytics and highly detailed video zoom.
The OV5658 is available in volume production. The OV10823 is currently sampling, with volume production expected to begin in the second quarter of 2014.
OmniVision will be hosting a series of private demonstrations of the OV5658 and OV10823 CameraChip sensors during ISC West 2014 in a suite at The Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas from April 2-4. To schedule a meeting please email omnivision-iscwest@ovt.com.
