Bangladeshis to save up to 50% mobile data - for free

Bangladeshis will now get exclusive access to Opera Max, an app that saves data across all mobile apps, through leading mobile manufacturer Symphony's latest smartphone, the Symphony Xplorer ZV.

Opera Max uses Opera's proven video and data compression technology to shrink video, images and websites, giving users a faster internet experience, while consuming less data. With Opera Max, users can stretch the life    of their mobile internet plans by up to 50%.

"Symphony is the largest handset brand in Bangladesh, and we are thrilled to launch Opera Max in partnership with them. Bangladesh is witnessing a huge demand for Android smartphones, and apps have become a huge part of the online experience. However, they tend to consume a lot of data and can end up becoming very expensive for consumers. With Opera Max, consumers can make the most of their smartphones without feeling the heat on their data plans," says Sunil Kamath, Vice President for South Asia, Opera Software.

Symphony Xplorer ZV

Symphony Xplorer ZV is packed with a 1.4 GHz octa-core Processor, 5" IPS HD display with Dragontrail glass, Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS, 2000 mAH Li-On battery, 2GB RAM and 16 GB ROM, 13 MP rear and 2 MP front camera. It will be priced at 14,990 tk.

"From the very beginning, Symphony has focused on creating value-for-money products for Bangladeshis. While we have successfully catered to the gap in smartphone pricing, we aim to take our offering to the next level and enable affordable internet browsing through our partnership with Opera. With Opera Max, users can easily control data consumption of apps and unleash the true power of their smartphones," says Ashraful Haque, Head of Marketing, Symphony.

Better control over apps

Opera Max comes with a dashboard that shows users how much data is consumed by each and every application on a daily and monthly basis. Users can block data usage by apps they don't use often, but which run in the background using mobile data. Users can also prevent high data-consuming apps from using mobile internet, restricting the apps to Wi-Fi only.

Watch mobile videos faster

With more and more people turning to their smartphones for entertainment, watching videos on mobile devices is on the rise in Bangladesh. With Opera Max on their smartphones, users don't have to wait for videos to load and can view them with far less buffering time, even on slow internet speeds.

Avoid high bills when traveling

Opera Max comes in very handy while traveling, as well. The app detects when users are roaming, so users can block their mobile data usage, thereby reducing the threat of high mobile bills.
