Orange Polska intends to continue making its infrastructure available to alternative operators in deregulated areas. The company will also launch a new broadband Internet offer for individual customers soon and is also analysing possibilities of investments into broadband infrastructure. This is the reaction to the decision of the Office of Electronic Communications (UKE), ending regulatory restrictions on Internet services in 76 municipalities

- UKE creates conditions for the development of the Internet market in Poland and for meeting the objectives of the Digital Agenda in Poland. Deregulation of the broadband Internet access will definitely contribute to meeting these goals.  This is good news for customers, who will soon be able to benefit from a new, attractive internet offer - said Orange Polska CEO Bruno Duthoit. - The decision of UKE is also creating better conditions for investments in very high-speed fixed broadband. OPL is analyzing all possible options and will define our plan in this area within a few months.

UKE's decision amends the provisions of 2006, when Telekomunikacja Polska (now Orange Polska) had a dominant market position for internet services, and was obliged to make its internet lines available to alternative operators on preferential terms. Today, when the strongest players on the internet access market in the biggest cities of Poland are the cable TV operators, who are not covered by telecommunications regulations, there is no reason to maintain these regulatory limitations.

The European Commission and Poland's Office of Competition and Consumer Protection have approved the assumptions of the Office of Electronic Communications deregulation plan.
