Orange, which rolled out exceptional resources for the commemoration of the 70the anniversary of D-Day, will be repeating the feat by providing services on the same scale for the 2014 FEI Alltech™ World Equestrian Games(23 August to 7 September in Normandy).
The partnership showcases Orange's innovation and offer the organisers and media alike ultra-high-performance telecommunications solutions in order to support athletic performances andbring fans an intense experience during the event.

Orange's technological know-how and expert teams mean that the Group can offer a custom communications system, designed to meet the unique needs and challenges of an elite equestrian competition on all 6 event sites.

Orange is taking new technological challenges head on, with:
  • A network of over 400 km of fibre-optic cables across all 6 competition sites (Stade d'Ornano, Zénith and Parc des Expositions de Caen, Haras National du Pin, theHippodrome de Caen and Sartilly-Mont-Saint- Michel).
  • 2 Gbit/s for media and professionals throughout the events.
  • 5 dedicated Wi-Fi networks 24/7 at the event for the organisers, professionals and media (journalists, TV channels, photographers, commentators).
  • 3,400 IT hook-ups available on all sites.
  • Symmetrical 100 Mbit/s connections available for image rights holders to broadcast images on the 2014 FEI Alltech™ World Equestrian Games.
  • Two 1 Gbit/s fibre connections and three 20 mbit/s fibre connections to the UER (Eurovision) in Geneva.
  • An integration solution featuring 110 1/10 Gbit/s s witches.
  • Four extra mobile relays (2G, 3G and 4G).

150 local and national Orange technicians will be on-site to provide their expertise and know-how in order to set up and manage the solution throughout the event. Throughout the Games, Orange and France Télévisions will film select events in Ultra-High Definition (UHD-TV). These images will be revealed at the IBC 2014, the international audiovisual convention, which will be held in Amsterdam from 12-16 September 2014. They will then be used in subjective tests to evaluate the quality of the experience provided by this technology, using the new HEVC video compression codec. The experiment is part of the 4EVER project, a French research programme focusing on the video experience of tomorrow. 4EVER is headed by Orange and also involves Ateme, France Télévisions, GlobeCast, Highlands Technologies Solutions, INSA-IETR, TeamCast, Technicolor and Telecom ParisTech.

At its stand (located in the Games Village at the Parc des Expositions de Caen), Orange will offer the public demonstrations of Orange Cash, Orange's
first mobile payment solution, which allows users to safely make payments with their mobile, as well as the Orange Bloc, a connected audio-video projector.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to discover a wide range of connected objects, recharge their mobiles on-site and personalise their smartphone cases with their favourite photos from the 2014 FEI Alltech™ World Equestrian Games.
A photo-call will also be available so they can share their equestrian experience with friends and family, and post their pictures on Twitter quickly and easily with the hashtags #JEM2014 and #Orange.
