• Orange, the leader in fibre optics
  • Fibre to reach 100% deployment in nine new cities by end 2016
  • "100% Fibre Orange" offers an incomparable customer experience
Orange retains its leadership in fibre

The increasing number of screens and connected devices per household (4 screens in 2009; 6.5 screens in 2014, 13 screens expected in 2022) is an undeniable fact. Orange plans to respond to the high expectations of individuals, professionals and businesses by increasing investment and accelerating the deployment of fibre both in homes and offices. As an Internet service provider (ISP), Orange, which is widely acknowledged both by customers and non-customers* as the most legitimate and credible operator in this field, plans to invest in France 3 billion euros of the 4.5 billion euros the Group has set aside for fibre.
The aim of this deployment programme is to go from 4 million connectable households in April 2015 to 12 million in 2018, and 20 million in 2022 (the final year of France's very high-speed broadband plan). Orange, which has already deployed its network in over 530 French communes (nearly 400 of which are located outside dense areas), now plans to deploy fibre in 3 600 communes by 2022. This programme covers all of France's large and medium-sized cities, or nearly 60% of French households.
In addition, for areas located outside the reach of this programme and where fibre will not be deployed in the medium term, Orange is offering a broad range of alternative solutions to increased broadband speeds and facilitate the movement towards very high-speed broadband. To achieve this, the Group will work with local authorities on the modernisation of its copper network as well as on other solutions such as satellite access.

Fibre to reach 100% deployment in nine new cities

Orange is aiming for complete coverage in nine emblematic new cities by the end of 2016. Bayonne, Brest, Caen, Lyon, the seven communes in the greater Lille area (Villeneuve d'Ascq, Marcq-en-Barœul, Wasquehal, Lezennes, La Madeleine, Lambersart, Mons-en-Barœul), Metz, Montpellier, Nice and Paris will become "100% Fibre" cities.
All of these cities' residents and businesses will be eligible for "100% Fibre Orange".
From May 2015, in all towns and cities offering 100% fibre coverage or in areas where fibre has already been installed, Orange will systematically offer eligible mass market customers access to a fibre offer for a new customer or an upgrade to a fibre service for existing customers who want to change their offer.

"100% Fibre Orange", an incomparable customer experience

With 100% Fibre, customers are guaranteed the high-level of performance provided by FTTH (Fibre to the Home) technology, which brings the fibre network directly into customers' homes. 100% Fibre also means network speeds that meet everyone's needs. Orange Jet and Fibre Pro customers will even benefit from speeds of up to one gigabyte per second in mainland France from the end of April.
100% Fibre means a seamless multiple-screen and multiple-usage experience. This means access to a new level of data sharing and immersive entertainment services using 100% future-oriented technology compatible with new uses (streaming and 4K screens, high-definition sound, 360° cameras, etc.).
Finally, Orange also provides 100% customer support with innovative tools or experts on hand at every step. As of today, Orange is the first operator to put out a new coverage map compatible with computers, tablets and smartphones on its site reseaux.orange.fr. Installation work is carried out in a non-disruptive way by experts who also provide advice on using Orange services. These installation services will undergo changes throughout 2015 to improve the quality of service and meet customers' needs.
