Abbasiinaugurates PPL'sSuiCompressors Revamping Project

SUI, October 24, 2016: Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources ShahidKhaqanAbbasiinaugurated the SuiMain Limestone (SML) Compressors Revamping Project of SuiField Gas Compressor Station (SFGCS) at Pakistan Petroleum Limited's (PPL) flagship SuiGas Field on October 24. The event was attended by provincial and local government officials, area notables and media representatives, besides PPL'smanagement and staff.

The SMLCompressors Revamping Project was undertaken in continuation of PPL'sendeavourstowards production enhancement and reserves replacement. The revamping project was completed well ahead of time with around 25 percent cost saving and net saving in project costs of Rs. 1 billion. This has enabled utilization of almost 217 BCFadditional gas reserves till 2025 and 25-30 MMscfdincrease in gas production from the compressors.

As a result of this and other initiatives, the annual historic production decline of 6 percent from SuiGas Field has been arrested, while maintaining production of 438 MMscfd, which is approximately 5 percent higher than the previous year and having a total impact of over 10 percent.

In his welcome address, MD and CEO PPLSyedWamiqBokharipresented an overview of PPL'srecent achievements along with a string of records being broken primarily as a result of the company's move to an asset-based hybrid setup as well as staff efforts. He highlighted the overall production decline reversal the company has been able to achieve along with Corporate Social Responsibility projects undertaken, especially in Sui.

Abbasiwhile speaking on the occasion, congratulated PPLon its efforts towards production enhancement, notably the SMLcompressors revamping project at Sui. He urged oil and gas companies to enhance efforts for optimizing production in order to bridge the supply demand gap and stem the drain on foreign exchange. Interior Minister, BalochistanMir SarfarazAhmed Bugtialso shared his views with the audience.

Commissioned and formally inaugurated in October 1987 as the largest state-of-the art compressor station in Pakistan, SFGCShas been gradually upgraded to increase production from SuiGas Field.
