- Paying for Commuter Rail parking becomes faster and more convenient -

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, 6 March 2014: Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) has completed its mobile payment provider switch. The new service is offered by PayByPhone and is available at 83 MBTA operated parking facilities along the commuter rail lines in the Boston metro area. Customers of the previous provider, Parkmobile, will need to register with PayByPhone by visiting paybyphone.com/mbta

PayByPhone's smartphone app and dial-in service eliminate the need to stop and insert cash or coins at the payment (honor) boxes for daily parking. Commuter Rail customers no longer need to worry about having single dollar bills or rushing to pay before their train or ferry departs. They can pay for parking with a credit / debit card from the comfort of their vehicle, while waiting on the platform, or, for those cutting it close, even after boarding their train or ferry. Parking enforcement officers can view full transaction information on their handheld devices.

Save even more time and money
Regular MBTA Commuters can save even more time and money on daily parking fees by purchasing a Monthly Permit via PayByPhone's permit site. More information is available at paybyphone.com/mbta. Permit parkers don't need to enter their space number and no longer need to print out or display any permit receipts in their vehicle; enforcement is done by license plate.

To sign up for a free PayByPhone account, download the smartphone app (iOS, Android or Blackberry), or visit paybyphone.com/mbta. Don't have a smartphone? No problem. Simply dial 1-866-234-7275 and follow the voice prompts to set up an account and pay for your parking session using your credit or debit card. The one time registration is quick and easy and your information is securely saved for the next time you use PayByPhone.
