Pelwatte Sugar Industries PLC is a Sri Lanka-based manufacturer of sugar and other by-products from raw sugar cane. The Company produces more than 22,000 metric ton (MT) of sugar every year. The Company manages a 2,700 hectare Nucleus estate and a Settlement estate of 3,500 hectares situated in the Moneragala district of the Uva Province. Pelwatte Sugar Distilleries (Pvt) Ltd., a subsidiary of the company produces potable and technical alcohol utilizing molasses, a byproduct of the sugar factory. It produces potable alcohol for liquor and cologne industries, as well as the manufacturers of Ayurvedic and western medicine in Sri Lanka. The Company is a part of Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka PLC (DCSL). The Company is also the agent for foreign liquor brands, such as Royal Salute, Chivas Regal, The Glenlivet and Ballantines whiskies, among others.
