Petroleo Brasileiro SA - Petrobras : Brazil ANP : Petrobras Santos Well Shut, Rupture To Be Examined
01/31/2012 | 04:13pm Brazil's oil regulator, ANP, said late Tuesday it will start inspecting a ruptured production column at a Petroleo Brasileiro SA (PBR. PETR4.BR) oil platform in Brazil's Santos Basin on Wednesday.
The pre-salt well linked to the column has been closed, containing any leakage, ANP said in a statement.
Earlier Tuesday, Petrobras reported a rupture at a production column at its Dynamic Producer FPSO, a floating production, storage and offloading vessel operating in the pre-salt area, about 250 kilometers from Ilhabela, in Sao Paulo state.
The oil spill is unlikely to reach the coast, ANP said, adding that efforts are under way to contain it.
ANP has designated a team to investigate the incident, which is en route to the site, the regulator said.
