Petroleo Brasileiro Petrobras : Petrobras’ oil and natural gas output up 1.4% in September

Our total oil and natural gas output in September was 2.88 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed), of which 2.75 million boed produced in Brazil, while 130,000 boed abroad. This is a 1.4 percent increase in the company's total production compared to August.

The total oil and gas output in Brazil is a new monthly record, having surpassed the 2.72 million boed achieved in August 2016. The average oil output in the country, which added up to 2.24 million barrels per day (bpd) in September, also set a new record.

New record in the pre-salt

The oil and natural gas output we operate (own and partner share) in the pre-salt cluster also set a new monthly record in September, coming in at 1.46 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed). This volume corresponds to a 7.3 percent increase over a year earlier.

This result is due mainly to the growth in production in the Lula and Sapinhoá fields, both located in the Santos Basin.

In September, the average oil output we operate in the pre-salt also set a new monthly record, at 1.17 million barrels of oil per day (bpd). In addition, alongside our partners, we set a new daily oil output record in that province by producing, on Sept. 07, the volume of 1.23 million bpd.

Natural gas

Natural gas output in Brazil, excluding the liquefied volume, was 81.2 million m³/day, 2.2 percent above the previous month's (79.5 million m³/day), thus setting a new monthly record.

The average natural gas output abroad was 9.5 million m³/d, 2 percent less compared to the previous month due to a scheduled platform shutdown in the Lucius/Hadrian South fields, in the United States.
