20.05.2015 Success of the PGNiG discount scheme

The 'Price Deregulation' discount scheme launched by Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo proved very popular among the Company's strategic customers, attracting 30 customers whose aggregate orders account for 85% of the total gas volume sold in the segment.

In addition, many others are considering joining the scheme from June 1st or July 1st 2015.

In May 2015, PGNiG SA put in place a new discount scheme for its customers. The 'Price Deregulation' scheme is a response to customer expectations, the actions of the Company's competitors and the changing gas market regulatory environment.

"PGNiG seeks to win and retain customers and responds to the conditions created by market liberalisation. We are glad that our scheme has met with such great interest as this means we made the right decision adopting a discount policy attractive to our customers. We hope that the successful launch of the discount scheme is a sign that the entire initiative will be successful and that our customers will continue to work with PGNiG," said Mariusz Zawisza, President of the PGNiG Management Board.

The discount scheme is addressed to PGNiG's current and prospective customers. Those who choose to enter the scheme receive a discount on the tariff price. The discount amount will be indexed to prices on the Polish Power Exchange and will depend on the volume and stability of consumption. The scheme benefits the most the customers with stable consumption, purchasing large volumes of gas. At present, gas prices on the Polish Power Exchange are strongly correlated to gas prices on Western European markets. The discount scheme replicates this formula.

Participants in the 'Price Deregulation' discount scheme will be able to buy gas at attractive prices, reducing their gas purchase costs. Another advantage of the scheme is that if prices on the gas market go up, the price for scheme participants will not exceed the tariff price.

PGNiG S.A. sells gas to strategic customers, i.e. customers with an annual consumption of more than 25 million cubic metres of gas, customers purchasing gas for resale, and customers purchasing gas directly from PGNiG's fields. As of August 2014, services to other PGNiG customers are provided by PGNiG Obrót Detaliczny.
