PLX Technology Ethernet Expert to Present at ICC 2012
Attendees to Learn How 10GBase-T Enables Efficient Data
Center Designs
SUNNYVALE, Calif., May 30, 2012 -- PLX Technology, Inc.
(PLX®) (NASDAQ:
PLXT), a leading global supplier of high-speed
connectivity solutions enabling emerging data center
architectures, today announced its principal engineer for
10GBase-T Ethernet, Frank McCarthy, will present at the
IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC) in
Ottawa, Canada. His presentation, titled The
Interconnect Standard for the Data Center: 10GBase-T,
will be given during the event's "Cloud Infrastructure and
Networking" forum, June 12, 10:45-12:30.
McCarthy will cover the basics and general features of
10GBase-T, connectivity options, market segments driving
the technology's fast growth, LAN on the motherboard
trends, overcoming electromagnetic interference, and how
market analysts view the 10GBase-T segment expanding.
"ICC draws the world's top networking and communications
experts, who, by attending this outstanding forum, will
have the opportunity to expand their understanding of 10
Gigabit Ethernet and its growing role in developing data
centers," said McCarthy, whose extensive background in
high-speed networking provides him with wide-reaching
expertise across several networking platforms.
"Attendees will come away from this session with a much
broader grasp of how 10GBase-T's power-efficiency, ease of
deployment and cost-effectiveness deliver a superior
networking option."
McCarthy is a principal engineer in the networking products
group at PLX Technology, a leader in 10GBase-T
transceivers. He has over 30 years' experience in the
design and development of products for digital-signal
processing and communications systems. Prior to PLX,
McCarthy was an engineer at IOSpan Wireless and The Boeing
Company. He earned a BSEE and an MSEE from Stanford
University.
10 Gigabit Ethernet is rapidly replacing Gigabit Ethernet
in data centers, enabled by 10GBase-T physical layer
devices (PHYs) such as the PLX TeraPHY® family.
10GBase-T delivers a 10-fold performance increase over
existing Gigabit Ethernet networks, along with a seamless
use of low-cost, widely deployed standard copper Ethernet
cabling, a range of security features and high degrees of
energy efficiency. 10GBase-T PHYs are a fundamental
building block in data center hardware, including Ethernet
switches, network-interface cards, and network
adapters. PLX's TeraPHY devices enabled the
industry's first 10GBase-T equipment, and its industry-leading 10GBase-T
PHY portfolio is designed into platforms spanning the
enterprise.
