PNE WIND AG: Calau II D wind farm commissioned and handed over to Allianz

Cuxhaven, September 30, 2014 - The wind farm developer, PNE WIND AG has completed and handed over the Calau II D wind farm (Brandenburg) to the buyer of the project Allianz.  The wind farm with five wind turbines and 15.4 MW of capacity has the same nominal output of the Calau II C wind farm which was also completed and sold to Allianz earlier this year. PNE WIND AG developed the wind farm projects and continues to be responsible for the technical and commercial management of the wind farms.  The substation and the Calau II wind farm with15  wind turbines and approx. 46 MW of total nominal capacity was constructed in three construction phases over a 12 month period.

The Calau II wind farms are helping to make this year a record year for the implementation of new wind farm projects in Germany. So far in 2014, PNE WIND AG has been constructing 186 MW of wind farms, which are either already commissioned or are currently under construction. These projects represent an investment volume of approx. EUR 325 million. For a further three projects 10 wind turbines with 28.6 MW of nominal capacity have already been ordered and preparations to begin construction are under way. Construction is scheduled to begin shortly.

The Calau II wind farm is located in a forested area and to make use of the site's full potential, PNE WIND AG installed the Vestas V112 3.0 MW turbine with a particularly high hub height of 140 meters. With the commissioning of the Calau II D wind farm, the five turbines are able to produce environmentally friendly energy from the wind sufficient to cover the annual electricity needs of approx. 13,000 four-person households.

Having completed the Calau II project in a forested area, PNE WIND AG has gained firsthand knowledge in working with high hub heights as well as activities designed to minimize impacts on the surrounding wooded areas. This knowledge can be applied to the Sontra und Chransdorf projects which are also being constructed in forested areas.

Allianz has already acquired several wind farm projects in Germany and abroad from WKN AG. This cooperation has now been continued successfully within the PNE WIND Group.

Martin Billhardt Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PNE WIND AG comments "The continuation of the cooperation with Allianz is very pleasing and this satisfaction can also be extended to all who were responsible for the speedy realization of the wind farm. The wind farm represents a solid investment for Allianz and is characterized by steady income over a long period of time.

David Jones, Head of Renewable Energy for Allianz: "We are delighted to acquire the final stage of the Calau wind park from PNE Wind Group and to expand our portfolio in Germany which is one of our core markets."
