Cuxhaven, December 9, 2015 - PNE WIND AG has completed the 'Waldfeucht/Selfkant' wind farm repowering project near Heinsberg (North Rhine-Westphalia). Four wind power turbines with a total nominal output of 12 MW were erected and have already been put into operation.

At this site, wind power turbines that were originally planned and commissioned by PNE WIND in 1999 were replaced. The repowering project involved the removal of the five original wind turbines (DeWind D6 and Enercon E44) and the erection of new modern turbines. This type of project comes with its own logistical challenges, which were successfully overcome by PNE WIND AG's project development team.

Three of the new Vestas V112 turbines, each with a nominal output of 3 MW, were erected with a hub height of 140 metres. These turbines are intended for PNE WIND AG's YieldCo and will therefore be initially operated for its own account.

The fourth Vestas V112 turbine with an output of 3 MW and a hub height of 119 metres was erected for a project company of the Frauenrath group. Frauenrath is a versatile full-service provider with tradition in the construction industry. Frauenrath has been a family-run business for 140 years and offers a large range of construction and other services as a medium-sized group of companies. For more than 15 years it has been involved in the development and operation of wind power turbines.

In the future, the 'Waldfeucht/Selfkant' wind farm will produce enough environmentally friendly wind energy to cover the annual consumption of approx. 10,000 average households. The wind farm will therefore lead to a significant reduction of harmful emissions which would have otherwise resulted from conventional power generation.
