Porsche presents University of Applied Sciences of Western
Saxony with Panamera S Hybrid Permanent loan for
Zwickau driving simulation projects
Stuttgart/Zwickau. Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart,
is today presenting a Panamera S Hybrid to the Institute
for Traffic System Technology of the University of Applied
Sciences of Western Saxony in Zwickau. Students will be
using the 380 hp (279 kW) Porsche with its fuel consumption
of a mere 7.1 litres for their traffic planning work in the
university's own driving simulator - specifically we are
talking about virtual journeys for improving new roads with
a high risk of accident. At Porsche's Weissach Development
Centre, the Panamera S Hybrid was specially modified for
the driving simulator's requirements. Moreover, Porsche
will be providing the Zwickau scientists with important
practical research data.
"Motivated by regional solidarity we have a long
established record of close collaboration with the
university, supporting thesis, giving lectures on site as
well as inviting students to our Leipzig factory,"
explained Siegfried Bülow, Chairman of the Executive Board
of Porsche Leipzig GmbH at the ceremonial handover of the
vehicle today on the university campus. This partnership
had grown over the years and been intensified last autumn
with the launch of a collaborative research venture with
the Porsche Development Centre, Bülow added.
"It is an alliance from which all participants benefit
handsomely," said Wolfgang Hatz, Member of the Executive
Board, Research and Development of Porsche AG. "This is a
mutually beneficial relationship. We synergise with the
Saxon scientists' know-how and in return we provide our
development data and vehicles for research. In that way we
keep in contact with tomorrow's top experts and recruit the
best graduates directly from the university."
