Bekkedahl to join PGE executive team

PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland General Electric (NYSE: POR) today announced the appointment of Larry Bekkedahl as the company's vice president for transmission and distribution, effective August 25, 2014. In this role Bekkedahl will be responsible for transmission and distribution engineering and operations functions.

"Larry will be an exceptional addition to our executive management team," said Bill Nicholson, PGE's senior vice president for customer service, transmission and distribution. "He brings with him an outstanding track record as an industry leader at utilities throughout the northwest, including major projects relating to grid optimization, smart grid technology and development, and transmission and distribution efficiency."

Bekkedahl is currently senior vice president for transmission services at the Bonneville Power Administration, and previously held other leadership and management positions at BPA, Clark Public Utilities, PacifiCorp and Montana Power Company. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Montana State University.

In addition, Bekkedahl serves on the Electric Power Research Institute's transmission executive committee, as a U.S. board member for the International Council on Large Electric Systems (CIGRE), and on the member's advisory committee for Peak Reliability, the reliability coordinator for the western grid. He has also remained active in the community throughout his career, with service in the Rotary, United Way, Red Cross, and the Chamber of Commerce.
