Additional agreements have been reached on three items: salary, travel expenses and the generation pact.
In 2017 and 2018 the salary will increase in four steps with in total 3 percent,. 0.4% more than previously agreed.
The small group of employees that did not benefit from the new travel expenses arrangement, will be compensated in the next five years, an extension of three years compared to the previous agreement in principle.
The new generation pact will enable a group of older employees to continue to work longer: they can opt to continue working 60 percent of their contract hours, while receiving 80 percent of their wages and building up 80 percent of their pension. This applies to 300 employees, which is 100 employees more that previously agreed. Agreements were also made about full re-occupation at Parcels when participants of the generation pact will work less.
Why were additional agreements made
Taking into account the current developments in the postal market, wide support for the CLAs is of utmost importance. During the consultation of the agreement in principle dated 13 October 2017, a small majority of the members of BVPP and CNV Publieke Diensten have voted in favour of the agreement in principle. FNV had not signed the agreement in principle. On 28 November, PostNL has engaged in negotiations with all unions to seek a solution that is acceptable for all parties and hence create the wider support among employees.
Duration and salary increases
The new PostNL CLA will apply from 1 April 2017 up to and including 31 December 2018. In addition to the salary increase of 3 percent in total, it has been agreed that mobility within PostNL will be further stimulated. For Saturday deliverers, the same duration and salary increase have been agreed.
CLA for PostNL
PostNL has now reached final agreements with BVPP, CNV Publieke Diensten and VHP2 about the CLA for PostNL and the CLA for Saturday deliverers. FNV will submit the agreements as a result of negotiations to its members for approval. The outcome of this consultation is expected on 12 December the latest. The CLA for PostNL applies to almost all of the PostNL employees in Parcels, Mail in the Netherlands and Head Office. Postal deliverers have a separate CLA.
