PostNL : delivers food products in Belgium

As experienced logistics e-commerce party, PostNL has been responding since 2014 to the growing demand for home deliveries of groceries, meal boxes and other special products, including sports nutrition and meat. In Belgium too, people are increasingly ordering these food products online. That is why PostNL is now delivering food across Flanders and Brussels from Wilrijk five days a week. PostNL is also making deliveries in the provinces of Antwerp and Limburg for Carrefour.

Food network and PostNL cool box

PostNL has a separate food network through which the company delivers fresh produce for various suppliers. Consumers receive precise details about the delivery times of their fresh produce. The time window within which PostNL delivers food products has been reduced to 30 minutes. The PostNL cool box, which was developed in collaboration with the University of Wageningen, enables produce to be delivered fresh, at the correct temperature and in accordance with food safety rules. The PostNL cool box is sealed and is only opened at the front door, which safeguards the temperature until the time of delivery. After delivery, the deliverer takes the cool boxes back for reuse. This means that the sustainable cool boxes can be reused up to 500 times and food suppliers do not need to pack the products in cartons or boxes themselves.
