Pozavarovalnica Sava dd : 40 Years of Sava Re

Sava Re, d.d., has a rich and long history, and this year the reinsurer is celebrating 40 years of operation. Change is the driver of progress and as there has been much change in the past, it has practically become our only constant. How to embrace change and manage the risks involved is a hot topic in the business world. Against this background, the Sava Re Group set itself ambitious goals, progressing on its course towards digitisation, technological modernisation and sustainable development.

The company celebrated its 40th anniversary together with its employees and business partners on Tuesday, 21 November with a focus on the future and the changes it brings. Under the banner 'ReActing to the Future'', a panel of Slovenian experts from different fields gave their insight on trendy and upcoming challenges.

Marko Jazbec, chairman of the management board of Sava Re, and climatologist Dr. Lučka Kajfež Bogataj spoke about climate change and how it impacts the reinsurance business and life in general.

The audience provided the starting point for the contribution of Dr. Bogomil Ferfila on the topic 'Our World in 2057' on how migration, terrorism, and political and economic superpowers will shape geopolitics.

How digitisation, technological progress in the automotive industry, autonomous cars and artificial intelligence will change the insurance industry was the topic of Matej Čer of Avant Car. He believes this future is nearer than many of us think. Our health is our biggest treasure.

Can smart technology assist in health care and will it replace personal medical advisers? This was the topic of Janez Uplaznik, CEO of Mikropis and owner of the 24alife application developed in cooperation with the US Mayo Clinic.

In closing, Alenka Smerkolj, minister without portfolio responsible for development, strategic projects and cohesion, added her views. She spoke on how the government was responding to the upcoming challenges and about the strategy it was preparing.

The insights of the panel can be summarised in a sentence that encourages us to be responsive in a responsible and determined way: The best innovations are the sparks that ignite the changes of the future. Let's start changing the world.
