PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG) today marked the opening of a regional headquarters for its architectural coatings business in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico. The facility is located in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, approximately 20 miles north of PPG’s global headquarters in Pittsburgh.

The 118,000-square-foot facility will accommodate approximately 550 employees in various management, marketing, information technology, customer support and related service and administration positions. Nearly 400 employees currently work at the site, and PPG anticipates the facility will be close to full capacity by the end of 2015 as it continues to consolidate operations from multiple sites.

“As PPG continues to expand its architectural coatings business, establishing a regional headquarters is an important step in aligning our business to meet our customers’ growing needs,” said Charles E. Bunch, PPG chairman and CEO. “The official opening of this facility further strengthens our presence in the state and in the Pittsburgh area, which has been home to our global headquarters for more than 130 years.”

“Our new headquarters serving the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico will allow us to enhance collaboration within our business, enabling us to continue building the strong brands within our product portfolio,” said Scott Sinetar, PPG vice president, architectural coatings, U.S. and Canada.

The facility features an open floor plan with collaborative workspaces, an amphitheater for large-scale employee meetings and presentations, product showcase store, training facilities and areas to pilot retail displays. The grand opening event featured speeches by Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett and PPG leadership, and it was attended by more than 200 PPG employees.

“Throughout the Pittsburgh region and the entire commonwealth, we are seeing well-known, well-respected Pennsylvania companies like PPG choosing our Keystone State as the best place to build their businesses, create jobs and grow our economy,” Corbett said. “Government should be an advocate, not an adversary, to creating jobs, and we are building a stronger Pennsylvania by making sure our commonwealth remains the best place to live, work and thrive. This is a great day for PPG and a great day for Pennsylvania.”
