PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG) will showcase SOLARBAN® 90 and OPTIGRAY® glasses at GlassBuild America 2015 in Atlanta, Sept. 16-18. OPTIGRAY glass (pictured, left) is an ultra-neutral, warm-light-gray glass designed to maximize light transmittance and clarity, and to work with SOLARBAN coated, solar control low-emissivity (low-e) glasses to enhance solar control performance. It is significantly lighter and more color-neutral than SOLARBAN 60 SOLARGRAY® glass by PPG (pictured, right).

PITTSBURGH, July 27, 2015 - PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG) will debut SOLARBAN® 90 glass while showcasing OPTIGRAY® glass and commemorating the 25th anniversary of STARPHIRE® ultra-clear glass at GlassBuild America 2015 in Atlanta, Sept. 16-18.

Incorporating refinements to PPG's proven triple-silver coating technology, Solarban 90 glass combines industry-leading solar control performance with a true neutral-reflective clear glass aesthetic. Because it does not display a noticeably reflected color, Solarban 90 glass harmonizes well with other building materials and can be combined in insulating glass units (IGUs) with ultra-clear Starphire glass or performance-tinted glasses by PPG for expanded aesthetic and performance options.

Optigray glass is formulated to eliminate the subtle green tint naturally present in conventional clear glass, producing a highly transparent, super-neutral aesthetic that can actually show less color than clear glass. Optimized to perform as a substrate for non-tinted Solarban solar control low-emissivity (low-e) coatings, Optigray glass achieves a light-to-solar-gain (LSG) ratio of 1.99 when paired with Solarban 70XL glass in a standard 1-inch IGU.

Visitors to the PPG booth will see a retrospective celebrating the silver anniversary of Starphire ultra-clear glass. Introduced at GlasTec in Dusseldorf in 1990, Starphire glass is made with a proprietary low-iron formulation that enables it to achieve visible light transmittance (VLT) of 91 percent in a standard ¼-inch (6-millimeter) thickness. A quarter-century after its debut, Starphire glass remains the clearest, most transparent commercial float glass available today.
