Dortmund / Hamburg, 1 March 2013. HELLWEG and Max Bahr/Praktiker are now allowed to cooperate closely in the field of sourcing and purchase through the jointly owned buying organisation DIYCO. The Federal Cartel Office yesterday granted the merger control clearance required for a launch of the joint sourcing activities. The two partners each hold a 50 percent stake in DIYCO Einkaufsgesellschaft mbH.

The joint buying organisation is to leverage synergies by bundling the procurement volume. The prices and conditions to be negotiated with the respective suppliers in the context of framework agreements are to apply in the same way for all sales divisions of both companies in Germany and (in the case of HELLWEG) Austria. In the German market both companies have a combined gross sales volume of around 3.7 billion euro. The decision to realize the purchasing cooperation within the joint buying organisation had been taken on 28 January 2013.
