Healthcare providers, lawmakers and other stakeholders all agree on the need to replace the Medicare sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula with a new system that provides payment stability and rewards clinicians for value. The Premier healthcare alliance applauds the House of Representatives on passing a more enduring solution than the stop-gap measures that Congress has passed each year since 2002. Premier is joining the hospital community in urging the Senate to seize this opportunity to advance concrete reforms that will move Medicare from a siloed and volume-driven to value-driven healthcare system and encourage physicians to participate in alternative payment models.
