One in three Americans say they’re not saving enough for retirement, Prudential Financial, Inc., found in a recent study. To raise awareness of an issue that affects everyone, Prudential brought its second annual 4.01K Race for Retirement to America’s Stadium and the West Coast.

The Challenge: In addition to running or walking 4.01 kilometers, participants pledged to increase their retirement savings by 1 percent of their annual earnings.

   

WHAT:

Prudential 4.01K Race for Retirement

8 a.m. to 1 p.m. PDT, Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016 (race begins at 10 a.m.)

The Rose Bowl, 1001 Rose Bowl Drive, Pasadena, Calif., 91103

 

WHO:

NBA and Los Angeles Lakers legend A.C. Green, who partnered with Prudential to take on the 4.01K challenge and was on hand—with the Lakers Girls—to support participants at the Rose Bowl.

 

Guests also included California State Treasurer John Chiang, who announced the start of the race and popular recording artist and performer Jason Derulo.

 

And of course, 12,000 registered runners, walkers and movers who pledged to increase their retirement contributions through the 4.01K challenge. A festival followed the race and included interactive games to educate consumers on becoming retirement ready, food trucks and the concert by Jason Derulo. Attendees explored Prudential’s Challenge Lab and used arcade-like games at interactive tents that bring to life behavioral challenges that often disrupt our retirement and long term financial planning.
