Thought Leader of the Week: Ed Campbell
Market recovery is on the horizon for 2014 Unusually severe weather led to a negative first-quarter GDP growth in the United States, but Ed Campbell sees a snap back in growth on the horizon. "Despite the economic weakness, profit growth has still been reasonably strong, coming in at about 5 to 6 percent growth year-over-year in the first quarter," notes Campbell, a portfolio manager for Quantitative Management Associates. He expects U.S. economic growth of 3 to 4 percent over the balance of 2014.

Some risky assets, like U.S. small cap stocks, have corrected after a big run-up last year while, emerging market equities have rebounded-a sign of internal rotation and healthy consolidation. Campbell expects stocks should continue to climb higher looking forward.
