In recognition of the firm’s outstanding leadership in establishing family friendly policies, programs and a corporate culture that supports working moms including child care, flexible work arrangements, paid parental leave and women’s advancement, Prudential Financial, Inc (NYSE:PRU) has been named a Top 10 Working Mother 100 Best Company.

"We are delighted to once again be a top 10 company for working mothers," says Sharon C. Taylor, senior vice president, Human Resources. “This year marks our 25th appearance on the Working Mother 100 Best list and acknowledges Prudential’s unwavering commitment over time to promote work/life effectiveness for the benefit of all our employees and the Company.”

Among the programs cited for excellence were Prudential’s child care and adult care benefits, flexible work arrangements, and development opportunities. Prudential was also lauded for its benefits for new mothers. Coming back to work after having a baby can be tough -- something Prudential recognizes by allowing new moms and dads to take generous parental leave -- up to 26 job-guaranteed weeks off with two weeks fully paid.

Employees who adopt can receive up to $10,000 to cover related expenses on an unlimited number of eligible adoptions. The company also has lactation benefits, infant transition services, eight on-site wellness centers and fitness facilities that can support new moms.

Carol Evans, president, Working Mother Media, says, "As a Top 10 Company on our 100 Best Companies list, Prudential Financial has led the way with their family friendly policies and initiatives. For 25 years, the company has been honored as an outstanding leader, providing a wide array of work benefits for working families, with not only flexible benefits but a growing emphasis on health and wellness."

The 2014 Working Mother 100 Best Companies application included more than 550 questions on workforce representation, child care, flexibility programs, leave policies and more. It surveyed the availability, usage and tracking of programs, as well as the accountability of managers who oversee them. This year, particular weight was given to flexible work arrangements, women's advancement programs and paid maternity leave. The 100 Best Companies are profiled in the October/November issue of Working Mother and on the Best Companies channel on workingmother.com. Companies on the 2014 list will be recognized at the Working Mother 100 Best Companies Gala Awards Dinner in October.
