Prudential Financial, Inc. (NYSE:PRU) employee adoption benefits have been recognized by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption on the organization’s2014 Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces List.

“We are pleased to be recognized for the eighth consecutive year for our adoption and family-friendly benefits,” says Maureen Corcoran, vice president of Health, Life and Inclusion. “Our employees build their families in a variety of ways and it’s an honor to support them in achieving both their personal and professional goals.”

Prudential employees are reimbursed up to $10,000 per adopted child and receive up to 26 weeks of parental leave. There is no limit on the number of adoptions that can be covered in a year. In addition, Prudential offers counseling services and referral programs to help employees through the adoption process. For employees who are foster parents, the company also provides $1,000 per calendar year for new, foster care placements.

Since 2007, the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption has compiled the annual list of America’s top 100 adoption-friendly employers to honor companies that offer the best adoption benefits in the country. The list is determined by an analysis of a company’s adoption benefits, including the maximum amount of financial reimbursement and paid leave for employees who adopt. Companies across the country, from a wide range of industries, submit applications for consideration. In addition to ranking the top 100 overall, the Foundation also ranks companies by size in individual industry lists.

“Each year, we recognize the top 100 companies who go the extra mile to provide adoption benefits in the workplace. We know that these benefits are not only cost effective and build employee loyalty, but most importantly, they provide critical supports to families who adopt children in need of loving, stable homes,” said Rita Soronen, President and CEO of the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.

The eighth annual Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces list also helps increase foster care adoption awareness while celebrating businesses that support adoptive families. There are more than 100,000 children in the U.S. foster care system waiting to be adopted. Every year, more than 20,000 children in foster care turn 18 and age out of the system without families.
