Prudential Financial, Inc. (NYSE: PRU) announced today that Royanne Doi, chief legal officer at Prudential of Japan (POJ), has been named Prudential's corporate chief ethics officer. Doi will continue to be based in Japan.

"Since so many Prudential employees are located outside the United States, it is fitting to have the corporate chief ethics officer also located outside corporate headquarters. Royanne's professional background in the international arena will be a strong asset in helping Prudential address the diverse cultural intricacies of ethics in our offices around the world." said Lee Augsburger, vice president and chief ethics and compliance officer at Prudential.

In her new role as vice president and corporate chief ethics officer, Doi is head of the company's Global Business Ethics & Integrity Office and has oversight responsibility for implementing strategies to drive high ethical standards, educating the company's global workforce and reinforcing the integration of ethics across Prudential's businesses worldwide.

"This is a dream job for me and I am thrilled to be the company's chief ethics officer. Allowing me to remain in Tokyo is an interesting step for the organization to take and I am very excited about it," said Doi. "As a global organization, our thinking must also be global and reflect the transcultural nature of the corporation. But at the same time my goal is to bridge cultural differences and deliver clear messages about what employees are expected to do - and that is to remain focused on our core values no matter where we work."

Doi joined Prudential in 2009 and has been responsible for managing legal risks and reviewing risk assessment matrices for new products and services. In addition, she was instrumental in establishing the corporate secretary team to manage shareholder, board of director and statutory auditor meetings.

Previously, Doi held senior legal positions with major financial institutions in Tokyo, including State Street Bank and Trust Company and CIGNA/ACE Insurance.

Doi has an undergraduate degree in Philosophy, with a concentration in Ethics, from Washington University in St. Louis. She earned her JD from UCLA and is a member of the California bar.

Doi is active with the US-Japan Council; the Japan In-House Council Network; the Association of Women in Finance in Japan; Japan's Foreign Women Lawyer's Association; the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan; and currently is treasurer of the Japan-United States Education Commission/Fulbright Program.
