Aviva Shortlists Prudential, Manulife for Malaysia Sale: Sources - Reuters

Prudential PLC (>> Prudential plc), Manulife, AIA Group (>> AIA GROU AD) and Sun Life Financial Inc. (>> Sun Life Financial Inc.) have been shortlisted to proceed through to the second stage of bidding for Aviva PLC's (>> Aviva plc) insurance business in Malaysia, a deal worth about $500 million, the Reuters news agency said Monday on its website, citing unnamed sources.

Binding bids for the Aviva sale are due at the end of this month, with management presentations set to start next week, the sources said in the report.

AIA, Manulife, Prudential and Sun Life declined to comment, while Aviva didn't reply to an email seeking response, the report said.
