PSI Software : delivers Train Scheduling System to Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG)

Berlin, 16 April 2018 - Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) AöR has commissioned PSI subsidiary PSI Transcom GmbH to implement the PSItraffic operations control system for subway operations. The system will control and monitor the largest contiguous public transport network of this kind in Germany on nine lines from one central control center. In addition, PSI supplies a component for the management of the approximately 1,200 vehicles.

PSItraffic offers comprehensive functionalities for the complex requirements of daily subway operation and, in the future will ensure reliable and optimized operation control with the main components train scheduling, automatic train steering, schedule management, train monitoring and vehicle management. The specific processes of the Berlin subway are mapped in the flexibly configurable PSItraffic system with a modern graphical disposition interface.

The contract also includes the delivery of numerous interfaces to existing systems of the BVG such as interlocking remote control, vehicle identification, digital radio, timetable planning, passenger information and other systems for data supply and data acceptance.

With the vehicle management from PSI, BVG will be more closely interconnecting its processes between passenger operations and garages, harmonizing processes and optimizing vehicle availability.

In 2017, Germany's largest public transport company BVG, counted a total of 1,064 million passenger journeys by bus, subway and tram. The backbone forms the subway with 563 million passenger journeys. The total of nine subway lines reaches a length of 146 kilometers and connects 173 stations.
