Psion (LSE: PON.L) announced today that global athletic and lifestyle leader New Balance has selected the Psion Omnii™ XT15 as the mobile handheld for its distribution centers. New Balance has purchased hundreds of Psion Omnii XT15's to streamline order tracking in its factory and distribution centers across the country. New Balance plans to roll out the Psion Omnii XT15 to all of its distribution centers in 2012.

New Balance manufactures athletic footwear and apparel sold under the New Balance, Dunham, PF Flyers, Aravon, Warrior and Brine brands. The Omnii XT15 is used for order picking, inventory and tracking, ensuring that New Balance's retail partners receive accurate shipments.

"We've been using Psion devices for 20 years and have found their customer service and the quality and reliability of their handhelds to be unparalleled in the industry," said Neal Hammond, Systems Analyst for New Balance. "Our scanning needs changed after deploying the Omnii XT15 in our Massachusetts distribution center. Through the Omnii Advantage Program, we were able to upgrade our scanners without replacing our handhelds. The modularity of the Omnii platform is already saving us time and money."

The Psion Omnii XT15, Psion's most rugged device, is part of the Omnii Advantage Program that allows Omnii customers to upgrade one modular option to a new module for free. The Omnii Advantage is available now to all Psion Omnii customers. The combination of the Omnii Advantage with the adaptability of the Omnii platform provides customers with the lowest possible lifetime total cost of ownership (TCO) with hardware savings of over 30 percent for the lifetime of the device.

"Psion pioneered the idea of modularity in order to better serve customers such as New Balance that need the ability to adopt new technologies without disrupting their supply chain," said Mike Wills, Vice President of North American Sales at Psion. "The modularity of our handhelds in combination with the Omnii Advantage ensure that our customers have the best technology at their fingertips while protecting their bottom line."
