IATF 16949:2016: All the Resources You Need in One Place

I take risk in the supply chain very seriously, so if you're an automotive manufacturer, I want to keep you up to date on upcoming changes. On October 3, 2016, IATF 16949:2016 was released globally. IATF 16949:2016 will supersede and replace the current ISO/TS 16949, which defines the requirements of a quality management system for organizations in the automotive industry.

According to AIAG, over 66K+ global supplier sites (primarily Tier 1 and 2 suppliers) currently certified to the ISO/TS 16949 quality standard will need to transition to IATF 16949 by September 2018. Non-compliance could result in suspension of a supplier's quality certification and limit their access to new business opportunities.

Here's the geographical distribution of the current 66K+ TS/16949 suppliers:

In order to complete this transition, organizations will have to obtain a copy of each of the following:

• ISO 9001:2015
• IATF 16949:2016
• Customer Specific Guidelines (additional quality requirements from the customer)

Automotive suppliers will have to purchase a copy of both ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949. To obtain these documents, organizations can go towww.aiag.orgorwww.odette.org.

The IATF 16949 solution is now available in the automotive process maps in the QAD 2017 release. In addition to highlighting MMOG/LE as the compliance for delivery, IATF 16949 will be featured as the compliance for quality.
