QBE Insurance Group Limited (ASX: QBE) is pleased to announce the appointment of Jason Brown to the role of QBE Group Chief Risk Officer. Jason will succeed George Thwaites, who, after a brief sabbatical, is considering other roles within the QBE Group.
Jason Brown has been the Chief Risk Officer for QBE's Australian and New Zealand Operations and has worked for QBE for 12 years as a senior member of the Australian and New Zealand Operations leadership team.
John Neal, Group Chief Executive Officer, said "it is always pleasing to be able to promote talented people from within our organisation in to critical executive roles. Jason has proven his value to QBE time and again in our Australian and New Zealand Division and we are looking forward to him bringing his skills and expertise to a broader group role. Jason Brown is a Chartered Accountant with over 20 years experience in the financial services industry in both Australia and the United Kingdom. Jason's career spans consulting, audit and corporate executive roles in finance, technical, operations and risk.
Jason's career has included the following key appointments:

 Most recently Jason served as Chief Risk Officer, for the Australian & New Zealand Operations with responsibility for the actuarial, reinsurance, enterprise risk, legal, corporate governance, compliance, internal audit, corporate strategy and planning functions, along with mergers and acquisitions.

 Jason worked as a senior manager in the financial services sector working with a number of well known insurance groups in London and Australia. Then as a Principal in the Business Risk Consulting Group (2001 - 2002) Jason worked with a number of blue chip financial services client to implement enterprise risk management methodologies and practices to meet the new wave of regulatory reform in risk as well as assisting government in the formation of a number of industry insurance schemes.
