Qlik, (NASDAQ: QLIK), a leader in leader in Business Discovery® – user-driven Business Intelligence (BI), today announced that Unicer, Portugal’s largest soft drinks company, has implemented QlikView across multiple areas of the business. The implementation focuses on improving performance, capturing information more intuitively and delivering instant access to key performance indicators (KPIs) anytime and anywhere.

With a focus on innovation, Unicer was looking for a BI solution that could easily uncover the insights they required and integrate well with multiple data sources. The QlikView Business Discovery platform allows Unicer to pull data from its SAP databases and other systems, while offering the simplicity and flexibility they need to easily build and share applications across business users.

“For Unicer, ease of use and agility were very important,” said Richard Timperlake, SVP Worldwide Sales at Qlik. “With QlikView users can tap into their natural decision making processes and explore the data in a way that makes the most sense to them, asking limitless questions to make connections between data points.”

Unicer identified the KPIs and analytical perspectives for each of their different business areas. From there, the team developed a model of the dashboard to introduce the solution to users. The Qlik Consulting Services team helped Unicer with best practices and implementation for the project. As Unicer’s BI program matured, the design of dashboard designs and measurements have been adapted so users can obtain increasingly more advanced analytical information.

Currently, QlikView is being used by employees covering almost all areas of business. This includes supply chain logistics, production and quality control, marketing, finance, purchasing and information systems as well as human resources and top management.

Since implementing QlikView, Unicer has been able to achieve greater alignment and consistency across departments as well as improved communication between employees. They have also lowered costs and gained greater transparency into expenditures so they can more easily identify compliance issues.

“QlikView has made a huge difference in our business,” said Joana Oliveira, BI Team Leader Unicer. “In the supply chain we have been able to reduce the time spent tracking performance indicators by close to 80 percent, in purchasing we saved up to 50 percent on our expenditures and in our sales department we have shortened the information acquisition process by 40 percent.”
