QlikTech (NASDAQ: QLIK), a leader in user-driven Business Intelligence (BI), today announced that one of the largest homebuilders in the UK, Taylor Wimpey, has selected the QlikView Business Discovery platform over Tableau and MicroStrategy for sales, land, commercial, and financial performance analysis.

Formed by the merger of George Wimpey and Taylor Woodrow, Taylor Wimpey is one of the largest residential developers in the UK, developing new homes and communities across the country. Taylor Wimpey operates from 24 regional offices across England, Scotland and Wales and builds over 10,000 homes each year. Having recently rolled out a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, the developer was looking for a data analysis platform that would provide a holistic view of the company's performance.

Taylor Wimpey had previously relied on spreadsheets and manual analysis of the data across the business, which came from 24 business units operating across legacy systems. Investing in building industry standard ERP solution COINS, the homebuilder ran a competitive tender with outsourcing partner CGI to source a BI platform that could match the new integrated system.

The QlikView Business Discovery platform was selected over MicroStrategy and Tableau, among others, for its ability to rapidly self-prototype and deploy and to provide insight and value from the data analysis. It will be available to management via dashboards to give them a holistic view of the company's performance. The first stage of the project, which is currently being deployed to the regional offices, consists of the delivery of KPIs concentrating on sales and land management. There are also plans to make the platform available on mobile and tablet devices at the beginning of next year.

Andy Feldon, IT Director, Taylor Wimpey, comments: "We needed a business intelligence platform that would match our investment in creating one integrated system and QlikView was the best fit for us. With QlikView, we plan to give our employees the ability to spend their time on data analysis instead of data preparation and, as such, provide the business intelligence to give us a competitive edge with the ability to benchmark KPIs in all areas of the business."

Sean Farrington, RVP Northern Europe & MD UK & Ireland at QlikTech, adds: "It's great that QlikView is being used by one of the UK's largest homebuilders to provide insight into its operations and KPIs across the business."
