ALISO VIEJO, Calif., Nov. 6, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- QLogic Corp. (Nasdaq:QLGC), a leading supplier of high performance network infrastructure solutions, today announced that the company gained share in the Fibre Channel adapter market in the third quarter of calendar year 2014, as confirmed by recent reports from the Dell'Oro Group1 and Crehan Research2. The research firms reported that QLogic achieved 58.9 percent or greater revenue market share for the quarter, representing a sequential gain of 2.5 percentage points and lead over its nearest competitor of approximately 20 percentage points. The analysts' data also indicates that the Fibre Channel market continues to exhibit increased stability over the more recent quarters, indicative of the value that SANs provide.

Both firms also show that a key element of the overall gain is QLogic's improved share in the 16Gb Gen 5 Fibre Channel market, achieving 55.9 percent or greater 16Gb revenue market share for the quarter. QLogic will continue its product and technology leadership in Gen 5 and 32Gb Gen 6 Fibre Channel to address performance, scalability, and manageability requirements in virtualized networks, hyper-scale environments, SSD storage platforms and new SAN architectures. The quarterly Fibre Channel market share gains further increase QLogic's year-to-date lead through the first nine months of 2014, putting the company solidly on track for the 11th consecutive year of share leadership.

"We continue to find innovative ways to differentiate our product offerings and gain share in the Fibre Channel adapter market," said Vikram Karvat, vice president of products, marketing and planning, QLogic. "Last month we announced several new end-to-end features for our 16Gb Gen 5 Fibre Channel adapters made possible by the QLogic / Brocade technology alliance. With these features data center managers can reduce operating expenses, simplify deployment and management, and increase performance of their SAN infrastructure. This recent market share data validates what we see first-hand in the marketplace: QLogic continues to be the preferred brand for Fibre Channel adapters in business and mission critical applications."
