R&Q Managing Agency has appointed Dipesh Patel as Deputy Class Underwriter - Accident and Health at syndicate DTW1991.

DTW1991 provides property and liability covers to a wide variety of SME and individual customers in the UK, Ireland, United States, Canada, Germany, Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East.

The initial focus of the account will be Leisure Travel, Business Travel and Personal Accident, distributed through regional brokers, binding authorities and affinity groups. Target areas include homeowner's travel, professional and amateur sports, small tour operators and travel agents and niche sectors including cruise, sailing and motorcycling.

The availability of A&H will also enhance the product suite available to the syndicate's leisure and sport's coverholders.

Dipesh has worked in the insurance sector for over 20 years and joins the syndicate from Tokio Marine Kiln. He is a recognised leader within the Personal Accident and Leisure Travel sector and has a strong reputation as a specialist underwriter, delivering high levels of service and building long standing and trusted broker partnerships.

Completing the A&H team, Ryan Husbands has moved to work as Assistant Underwriter alongside Dipesh. Ryan joined the syndicate in 2013 and has supported the design and implementation of the syndicate's coverholder management platform and assisted in the on-boarding of over 50 specialist coverholders for the syndicate.

Commenting on today's announcement, Daniel Wright, Active Underwriter, said: 'The expansion into Accident and Health classes is a natural progression for the syndicate and widens our product offering into our core SME customer base. It's a pleasure to welcome Dipesh to the syndicate and his appointment supports our aim of introducing new business to the Lloyd's market.'

Dipesh Patel added: 'I'm proud to be working for DTW and to help build DTW1991's A&H capabilities. I thrive on the challenge of building a business. The strength of this business lies in the relationships we build with our brokers, coverholders and underwriting partners. The syndicate's coverholder network and operating platform provide an exciting opportunity.'
