PRODUCT AND MANUFACTURING UPDATE Manufacturing update - Flextronics (Flex)

The transition of complete manufacturing to Flex has progressed smoothly and is now at the stage where production has resumed on a fully outsourced basis, as planned. All issues and feedback identified from in field installations and trials have been incorporated into these products. The supply chain management of components and the manufacturing is now entirely with Flex. With a high focus on quality and post pilot-run analysis, the introductory phase has run about 4 weeks behind our original schedule.

Residential Product Progress

With the resumption of battery manufacturing with Flex being approximately 4 weeks behind schedule (as mentioned above), the first shipment of ZCell-ready batteries are now expected to arrive in Australia in late July 2016 for pre-delivery testing prior to commencing deliveries to installers.

The development of the ZCell outdoor battery enclosure is also proceeding smoothly with an initial display unit to be shown at the Australian Energy Storage Conference in Sydney on 1 June 2016 .

Production enclosures are expected to be delivered from mid July 2016 (matched to the arrival of new battery stocks from Flex). The enclosures are being manufactured in Australia.

Redflow is developing appropriate training materials and documentation via some existing installer relationships and expects to commence formal engagement with a wider installer community from July.

Battery Management System (BMS)

The development of the Redflow BMS is well progressed with prototypes completed and undergoing successful field testing on live systems in a variety of locations in Australia.

Designed to simplify battery installation, control, maintenance and monitoring, the Redflow BMS tracks and reports upon real-time battery performance and energy storage levels. It communicates this information to energy control / management systems and it also allows for secure remote access and monitoring of battery systems in the field via any form of Internet connection. Redflow will deploy the BMS with related software across the entire ZBM battery range including the ZCell residential system.

Redflow Executive Chairman Simon Hackett said the BMS would make the sophisticated and powerful Redflow batteries easy to install, manage and monitor. "The BMS is a key part of our vision of integrating our efficient and effective energy storage into a wide variety of battery energy storage systems for both homes and businesses, using our unique small-footprint flow battery technology," he said.
