Munich - March 13, 2013: REC, the largest European supplier of solar panels, confirms that REC solar panels are not subject to the ongoing anti-subsidy and anti-dumping investigations at the European Union (EU). The EU Solar Trade Investigations include solar panels, cells and wafers originating in China and imported into the EU.

"Our position towards the ongoing EU solar trade investigations has not changed. We strongly believe in open and fair competition, and a trade war is not in the interest of the European solar industry," highlights Luc Graré, Senior Vice President Solar Sales and Marketing, REC. "We see that the latest decision on the solar import registry unsettles distributors and installers and causes turmoil in solar markets."

The European Commission - the executive body for the EU - decided that crystalline solar panels, cells and wafers originating in China or imported from China between March 6, 2013 and 5 December, 2013 must be registered with national customs authorities. If the EU eventually determines to impose tariffs retroactively on Chinese solar products as a result of the EU Solar Trade Investigations, this registry will help to identify the applicable imports subject to retroactive tariffs into the EU.

"REC's solar panels are not subject to the EU Solar Trade Investigations. Our solar panels are manufactured in and shipped from Singapore, and do not contain Chinese cells or wafers, nor other Chinese solar products subject to the investigations and tariff threat," Luc Graré confirms. "This puts REC solar panels in an attractive and stable price position."
