Retroscreen to have strong speaker presence at "New Technologies, New Vaccines" in the USA

23-26 March, Wilmington, Delaware, USA

Retroscreen Virology, the global leader in anti-viral research, will be attending the 8th "New Technologies, New Vaccines" conference taking place in Wilmington, Delaware USA, 23 - 26 March 2014.

Previously titled "New Cells, New Vaccines", the conference name has been changed to reflect the tremendous impact of new technologies on the development and manufacture of vaccines. Vaccine innovators from industry, government and academia are gathering to discuss the impact that new science is having on vaccine development and production.

This is the eighth conference in a series that began in 2006. Over the years, the conference has followed the progress of new vaccines made from new cell substrates from concept through clinical development to innovative new products.

"New Technologies, New Vaccines" will examine the wide-ranging impacts of new science on regulatory and business decision-making. This meeting will focus on scientific, clinical, regulatory and manufacturing issues associated with the use of new technologies. Topics such as microbial, stem cell, insect cell and plant systems will be discussed.  These current technologies promise to aid the goal of better health care through their ability to produce vaccines more safely, quickly and economically than traditional approaches.

Dr Anthony Gilbert, Retroscreen Medical Director, will be speaking at the conference on day one, presenting "The Human Viral Challenge Model - Accelerating the Development of New Technologies, New Vaccines". In addition, Dr Gilbert will be delighted to discuss all aspects of Retroscreen's service provision and its pioneering approach to early phase clinical research with regard to human viral challenge studies in flu, RSV and rhinovirus.

Dr Gilbert commented: "This event is one of the most effective ways of keeping pace with the fast-moving developments in vaccine development. Retroscreen performs an increasingly valuable role in early clinical research to help develop vaccines and drugs against respiratory viral disease. This conference is an excellent USA forum to facilitate further information share, and conduct discussions to help ensure that we maintain our position at the forefront of developments in these critical areas of unmet medical need."
