Rezidor, one of the most dynamic hotel companies in the world and a member of the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, had 122 of their hotels join the thousands of households and businesses across the globe to celebrate Earth Hour 2015. Each year hotels turn off their non-essential lights and other electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness of the need to take action on climate change.

The Rezidor properties used Earth Hour - an environmental initiative supported by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) - as an opportunity to engage guests, employees and business partners in their pursue for energy savings by organising fun activities. Several hotels organised romantic candle light dinners, featuring special Earth Hour cocktails and Earth Hour menus.

"Our hotels and their teams were very motivated to participate in Earth Hour. It is exciting to engage guests in energy savings in an original and fun manner. The Earth Hour message aligns perfectly with Think Planet, Rezidor's ambitious energy saving initiative targeting a 25% consumption reduction in 5 years," said Inge Huijbrechts, VP Responsible Business.

All eleven Radisson Blu and Park Inn by Radisson hotels in the United Arab Emirates participated in an event organised by the Dubai Government. The LED lighting of their Think Planet stand was powered exclusively by a bicycle. The team invited by-passers to cycle and challenged them to guess the amount of kilometres needed to keep the stand lit throughout the event.

In Antwerp/Belgium, guests staying at the Radisson Blu Astrid Hotel and the Park Inn by Radisson Antwerp had the chance to attend an unplugged concert by Sean Dhondt, a famous TV presenter and member of a rock band.

The Park Inn by Radisson Cape Town Foreshore in South Africa invited guests and employees to leave their special Earth Hour messages and wishes on their Earth Hour wall.

In Turkey, the Radisson Blu Resort & Spa, Cesme, had the luminous idea to organise a Flash Mob with employees wearing glowing accessories. Whilst the Radisson Blu Arlandia in Stockholm/Sweden organised an Instagram competition where the best photo taken in the bar during Earth Hour and posted on Instagram with #earthhour #bluarlandia won an overnight stay in one of their airport hotels.
