Interim Report for the Third Quarter of 2016:

Bad Neustadt, 4 November 2016

A total of 615,629 patients were treated in the Company's hospitals in the first to third quarters of the current financial year; revenues amounted to Euro 885.3 million; earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) stood at Euro 131.5 million. This amount also includes provisions for warranty claims from the Fresenius/Helios sales transaction of approx. Euro 41 million which were dissolved in the above quarters of the financial year. The current financial figures are not directly comparable with those of previous years due to the continuing financial after-effects of the sale.

Outlook

For the current financial year of 2016 we continue to expect revenues of between Euro 1.17 billion and Euro 1.20 billion and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of between Euro 155 million and Euro 165 million. Positive and negative one-off effects, the size of which will be a low to medium two-digit million figure, will continue to influence the corporate results during this financial year as well and will partially cancel each other out. Regulatory obstacles will also affect our organic growth in 2016, placing a burden on the current financial year with a lower increase in revenues of roughly 1%.

'We are currently seeing an increase in regulatory obstacles which can place a burden on our future business. We must face such negative developments with suitable measures; as always this is a challenge, but we are experienced in that,' CEO Dr. Martin Siebert stated. Digitalization has increasingly played an important role for the Company together with the modernisation projects putting the new campus concept into practice with reconstruction measures at various hospital sites. The Company is also developing ideas in order to become more competitive in the area of eHealth. 'Our modernisation projects and performance capability in this area is a vital precondition for successfully achieving a closer link between inpatient and outpatient services associated with the campus concept which can then be extended to other suitable regions,' Siebert added.
