Tokyo, September 8, 2014- Ricoh Company, Ltd. has completed a 100% eco-power installation for its electronic billboard set on the roof of the San-ai Dream Center Building at Ginza 4-chome crossing in Tokyo. The switching of the power source of the billboard to private power generation using solar and wind power which began in July is now completed.

To date, Ricoh has installed 100% eco-powered electronic billboards in New York, London, and Sydney. Changing the billboard in Tokyo Ginza will mean that the Company has installed eco-billboards in each of its four marketing regions around the world, the Americas, Europe, Asia Pacific & China, and Japan.*

Eco-billboards are not always lit, depending on the weather. The billboard in Ginza, which is the commercial center of Japan, might not light up at times depending on weather conditions. When you come to Ginza, be sure to look up to see if it is lit.

*In Japan, a 100% eco-powered electronic billboard was installed in Kita-ku, Osaka in April 2003, although it was later removed in June 2011 when a new building was built in front of it.

Ricoh's Concept of Eco-Powered Electronic Billboards

Eco-billboards that are not always lit, depending on the weather. With these billboards, Ricoh aspires to encourage environmental awareness among the public and to take a further step toward a sustainable society. Installing these billboards is part of the Company's strategy, focusing on natural energy to communicate its corporate stance. Ricoh hopes to encourage as many people as possible worldwide to be aware of the importance of energy conservation.
