Health Dialog, a leading provider of integrated population health management solutions for health plans, risk-bearing providers and self-insured employers, will assemble a panel of experts representing clinical, business and government perspectives to discuss patient engagement strategies that successfully educate and empower patients to take a more active role in their healthcare. The session will take place at the America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) Institute & Expo in San Diego on June 20-22.

During the session, titled “Improve Quality and Reduce Costs by Giving Patients a Voice,” panelists will share their experiences with successful population health management programs, highlighting both challenges and successes in both fee-for-service and value-based care environments. Session attendees will gain valuable intelligence that will help them increase front-line provider participation, reduce the cost of preference-sensitive utilization, engage geographically dispersed populations and reduce overall costs in population health management programs.

The session will be moderated by Peter Goldbach, MD, chief medical officer of Health Dialog, and include the following panelists:

  • Martin Ahrens, senior director, health management services, NRECA
  • Kenneth Cohen, MD, FACP, chief medical officer, New West Physicians
  • Laura Pennington, practice transformation manager, Washington State Health Care Authority

“It’s clear that the success of any population health program is closely tied to its ability to engage members in their healthcare path,” said Peter Goldbach, session moderator and chief medical officer of Health Dialog. “Our panelists have examined, tested and refined their patient engagement strategies, resulting in their mature perspective on what works and what doesn’t. We believe this high level of insight is unique in the industry and will be highly valuable to population health managers.”

America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) is the national association whose members provide coverage for health care and related services. Its annual conference, the AHIP Institute and Expo, joins industry experts, policymakers, academics and thought leaders to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the nation’s health care system. The panel, “Improve Quality and Reduce Costs by Giving Patients a Voice,” will occur on June 21 from 7:15-8:15 a.m. (PDT) at the San Diego Convention Center.
