A single day of fundraising by Robert Walters has generated £23,032 for leading cancer research and support charity Macmillan, more than double the £10,000 figure targeted.

Robert Walters and Resources Solutions employees from around the UK teamed up for an ecletic program of events, challenges and quizzes, including a hot wings eating contest, bike races and even a Robert Walters themed countdown competition.

Resource Solutions Sales Director David Barr ran over 50km between all London Resource Solutions sites in only a matter of hours, while Nick Hodgson, Matthew Wyatt and Kieran Millington each raced the equivalent of one of the Three Peaks up and down the stairwells of the company's Slingsby Place headquarters.

Former England flanker and 2003 World Cup winner Richard Hill also dropped in for a hard fought 'battle of the bikes' against Robert Walters General Counsel Richard Harris.

Under the auspices of COO Giles Daubeney, the day drew to a close with a breathless auction of prizes including golf days, spa treatments and two Wimbledon centre court tickets.

Steven Coxall, Senior Marketing Manager of Robert Walters UK, says:

"Robert Walters is proud to back Macmillan's work in providing vital support for individuals and their families facing the agony of cancer.

"We are thrilled to have smashed last year's total so decisively, and offer our congratulations to all members of staff for their hard work, generosity and creativity in delivering on such a successful day.

"What this also shows is how far our focus on developing a strong CSR strategy have taken us, a result we will be looking to build on in our work for Macmillan throughout 2015."
